Use child safety locks to prevent poisoning and other injuries.

Child safety locks and latches help us prevent children reaching dangerous products such as cleaning products and medicine.

Always remember no locking device is 100% foolproof, but they can make it more difficult for children to get to these substances.

Child safety locks and lathes are designed to prevent kids to get into drawers and cabinets. But before you start putting locks on every door, cabinet or drawer, witch can become very expensive, try to store some of these items higher up where they can never reach them.

Door safety

Use door knob covers to stop children to go into areas where you don't want them to go. To open these doorknobs you need to pinch the cover together on both sides. Kids do not have the strength to do this.

Child safety hinges give finger protection for the hinged side of the door. To protect little fingers from being injured in the hinge space of a door or gate. This simple device is attached to the hinge side of the door. You can also use door stops or door holders to protect your child's fingers.

Child safety lock for windows

Never put any furniture or other items children can climb on near to lower windows. Use window safety locks or if you want to open these windows for fresh air better use safety guards. Window safety guards or gates also prevent children falling through the glass of a closed window. Still 12 children under the age of 10 fall every year out of windows.

Safety for cabinets and drawers

Lock chemicals in cabinets <br> with child safety locks. Keep dangerous products locked away

Little children are always exploring cabinets and drawers. But cabinet doors and drawers can slam shut and pinch little fingers.

To prevent this you can use magnetic locks. They don't damage the cabinet because you need no hardware to install them. They are totally concealed and easy to open with a powerful magnetic key.

With sliding cabinet locks, the lock slides over the handles in place. Some kids have proven to be smarter than these locks and managed to open them. Watch

For bathroom safety

The bathroom is a dangerous place for a young child. More than half of drowning accidents happen in the bathtub. To protect your child from scalding use tub knob covers to stop them from opening the hot water. Put toilet locks or lid locks on all toilets in the house so your kid won't play in the wee pool.

Safety for sliding doors

Sliding glass door locks prevent children to access patio's and balconies. They can also be used for closets with sliding doors.

For electrical outlets

Keep children safe from electrical outlets with self closing outlet covers. Most of these devices are easy to install.

The moment you remove the plug from the outlet they slide in position. The cover should always be big enough so children cannot remove them and choke on them.

For gun owners

If you have children I strongly advice you to buy gun safety locks. For safety reasons keep your gun locked away and keep the bullets somewhere else.

For extra safety use a Master Lock 94DSPT Combination Gun Lock . This gun lock uses a combination lock instead of a key lock.

Avoid putting locks on freezers, fridge or clothes dryer where kids can get inside. They can automatically lock and your child may suffocate if he stays in there too long.

If you have doubts about a certain product, visit or contact the National Safety Council. This non profitable organization is focused on safety and environmental health.
