With a baby heart beat monitor you can listen to the heart beat of your unborn baby.

There are many different heart beat monitors on the market. Some are only to be used in a doctor's office and others can be used at home.

Baby's heart starts beating 22 days after conception or as they say in the 5th week of pregnancy. A fetal heart beats much faster than the mothers heart. A normal fetal heartrate is between 120 and 160 bpm.

If you use a heart beat monitor at home make sure that you are not listening to your own heart. Check your pulse first and than use the transducer to find baby's heartbeat.

If your monitor does not display the heart rate of the baby you can count the heartbeats for a full minute or for 15 seconds and then multiply by four.

How does the baby heart beat monitor work?

A heart beat monitor uses a transducer that emits ultrasonic waves and another that detects the waves. Also known as the Doppler effect.

The waves of the transducer pressed against the abdomen reach the moving tissue of the heart. Then the waves bounce back in a slightly different tone, allowing you to hear the heart beat of your unborn baby. Some models also display the heart rate in beats per minute.

How do you use a baby heart beat monitor?

  • First you put some gel onto the abdomen.
  • Then you turn on the heart beat monitor.
  • Place the transducer against the abdomen.
  • Slowly move the transducer over the abdomen until you hear the baby heart beat clearly.(sounds like galloping horses)

With the Fetal Doppler Monitor you can hear the heart beat from your unborn child.
Expectant parents all wait anxiously for the sound of their baby’s heart beat.

Especially for expecting mothers that have had a miscarriage before hearing the heart beat of their unborn baby can be very reassuring.

With the Sonotrax Ultrasound Fetal Doppler you can detect baby's heart beat as early as 8 to 10 weeks.

Can fetal heart rate predict the gender of baby?

Many people believe that the fetal heart rate can predict the gender of a baby. The theory is that if baby's heart beats over 140 per minute it is a girl and less than 140 it is a boy. Up to now no research has proven the connection between gender and fetal heart rate.
